Water Water Everywhere Weigh-in

The spring semester here at WKU is already roaring past us. I realized this morning that in just two and a half weeks, we have spring break. Holy cow. Where did the time go?

And now, on to my Water Water Everywhere Weigh-In…

February 15, 2012
Weight: 369.6
Change from Last Week: -1.2 pounds
Change from All-Time Highest: -33.2 pounds

I am finally back in the 360s! Woo hoo!

So why is this a Water Water Everywhere weigh-in?

Because that’s really all that I’ve changed. Granted, I didn’t lose as much this week as last, but when I look at where I was at the first of the year, I have definitely lost weight. It isn’t a fluke; it isn’t a salt issue. I’ve lost weight. There is less of me.

Finally.

And yay.

It’s About Time Weigh-In

If you have been reading Stellar Path for any length of time at all, you know that I am very fickle about the day I weigh in. For various reasons, things come up and I change my weigh-in day. Right now, I have VERY busy work weeks, and at the time, Fridays don’t fit in at all. I am at work, grading papers and preparing for the next week’s lessons, and at the end of the day, I am just not always mentally with it for writing a blog post.

So for now, I am going to switch to Wednesdays. It isn’t that they are any less stressful or busy, but I think I’ll be more inclined to post on Wednesday than Friday.

So, without further ado… this is an It’s About Time Weigh-In!

February 8, 2012
Weight: 370.8
Change from Last Week: -2.2 pounds
Change from All-Time Highest: -32.0 pounds

I am about to break out of the 370s! Woo hoo!

What did I do different this week?

Not a dad-blamed thing.

Still eating well.

Still watching my points.

Still emphasizing fruits, veggies, and lean proteins.

Still exercising.

This week, my body decides to reward me with a loss.

The ONLY thing I have done differently this week?

I’ve drank more water.

I’m not sure if I can accept that THAT is why I upped my loss this week, but if it is…

Well, rest assured, my Nalgene bottle will be emptied four times a day next week, too.

Fingers crossed, next Wednesday, I will hit the 360s!

Weekly Goals

If you pay close attention, you’ll notice that I forgot to mention my weekly goals yesterday. Whoops! I was already doing so much in that post, it honestly slipped my mind.

Basically, my weekly goals are where I pick five goals for me to accomplish that week and I assign each one a value of $1. If I meet that goal, that $1 goes into my Fun Fund (presently saving up for I-don’t-know-what). If I don’t meet that goal, that $1 goes into Your Fund, where when it reaches a certain amount, I hold a giveaway here on the blog. The giveaway is healthy living related.

So, how did I fare this week?

Not really that hot.

1. Get my weight down to below 367.

FAIL. I got it down to around 367, but not below. $1 to you.

2. Run five minutes without stopping.

SUCCESS, sort of. I’m counting this one as a success, and here is why. Between establishing that goal and finishing the week, Tina and I decided to do Brad Gansberg’s 5K in 100 Days to help us get ready for the Run For Your Lives in October. I did my three running workouts this week, so even though I didn’t follow this one to the letter of the law, I followed it to the spirit of the law, and therefore, I am counting it.

3. Drink a gallon of water on at least four days.

FAIL. I have to keep working at this one. I came close on most days, but three full Nalgene bottles (around 96 ounces) is all I’ve done. And it’s not a case of my body doesn’t need the extra water – I’m actually frequently thirsty at work. I just don’t drink enough!

4. Eat a salad full of greens on at least five days.

SUCCESS! It was exactly five days, but I’m still counting it as a success. Some days it was literally just raw spinach with my Pink Ranger Dressing on it, but it was still full of greens. What’s Pink Ranger Dressing? Stay tuned. I’ll explain tomorrow!

5. Do yoga before bed at least three times.

FAIL. Didn’t even do yoga once. I did some stretches in the gym on their awesome stretching equipment, but no actual yoga. I plan to do better on that this week.

To sum up, $2 for me, $3 for you.

In the past, my goals often weren’t just concerned with health and fitness. They were frequently things that I was doing to better myself as a person or just have more fun. So… what are my goals this week?

1. Lose two pounds this week.
2. Go to the drive-in to see Captain America and Transformers AND take a healthy picnic.
3. Drink a gallon of water on at least four days.
4. Do yoga before bed at least three times.
5. Do three running workouts this week.

Why the drive-in goal? Well, Tina and I love the movies, and we’re fortunate enough to live in an area that actually has a drive-in.

Not our drive-in...

For $15, we can go and watch two movies, and this week, the two movies are ones that we’ve wanted to see since they were each released but haven’t made it to yet. However, drive-in picnic is usually consists of pretty poor food choices. This Friday night, we’re taking healthy food with us!

Have you ever had a healthy picnic? What did you pack?

A Steady Downhill Jog Weigh-In

I’m calling this one a Steady Downhill Jog Weigh-In.

The info…

March 18, 2011
Last Week’s Weight: 355.1
Today’s Weight: 354.7
Change from All-Time High: -48.1 pounds
Change from Last Week: -0.4 pounds

First of all, yay! I don’t think I’ve ever been as happy to see a loss on the scale as I was this particular morning. I know, it’s not much, but I’ll explain why I’m totally okay with that in just a minute. But first… my measurements!

The last time I did them was on February 4th, when they looked like this:

Chest: 52 1/2″
Stomach: 60 3/4″
Bicep: 17 1/4″

And today?

Chest: 51 1/4″
Stomach: 58 1/4″
Bicep: 16 1/2″

I did a 5K last night in 50:22. I ran for FIVE minutes straight. Seriously, you don’t know how freaking huge that is for me! And this is why I’m pleased to show any loss on the scale at all today.

First of all, I’ve been counting my calories religiously. #7daychip is the greatest diet tool ever, in my opinion, but I’ll talk about that more in a different post as soon as I’ve officially earned it. (Currently on Day 5. Go me!)

However, as we all know, it is SO easy to mess up the scale with a water or salt imbalance problem. The true weight loss is still there, but it’s hard to see and for some of us who still stupidly live and die by the scale (*raises hand*), that can be frustrating. On Tuesday, I weighed in at 359.3 for PhysicsDiet. That number FREAKED me out. I promptly put the scale up until Friday. It clearly does not do me good to weigh in daily. Back to once a week, just for my mental health. Someday, I’m sure it won’t bother me, but for now, it does.

Anyway, last night after work (later after work), I went to the gym and did my 50:22 5K on the treadmill. I went straight from work, so I was completely without water during the 5K, and on top of that, I didn’t stay very hydrated yesterday at work. So as soon as I got home, my body cried out for water, and I drank half a gallon before bed. It’s just water. That’s good for me.

When I woke up this morning, I barely had to pee at all. Normally, if I drink that much immediately before bed, I’d be up to pee at least twice during the night. Not once, and barely any in the morning… My first thought as I got on the scale was, “Oh crap… Who knows what this number will be, because my hydration was all screwed up.” So when that 354.7 popped up, I did a happy dance. I may have only loss 0.4 pounds, but I may have lost even more and it just hasn’t shown up yet. Maybe I’ll post a HUGE number next week, who knows? But regardless, my inches show I’ve done pretty well in the past month and a half, so I’m pleased all the way around. No matter what, I am smaller now than I was in February. Woo hoo!

My first 5K (which I will do as a walk/jog combination) is coming up in a week. If you read my last post, I’ve decided to tackle the job of doing a 5K for every pound I’ve lost. I may have to eliminate a few of the ones I initially posted due strictly to financial matters, but I’m not dropping it and I’m still going to do as many as I possibly can. I’m going to keep an “upcoming races that I have already paid for” list in my sidebar, so if you’re reading this in a blog reader, you can hop over to my webpage to see that.

Good end to a good week. How was yours?
