My office redo update

It’s been months in the works, but my home office is finally on its way! If you’ll reminisce with me I talked about starting my office redo in this post, way back on October 26, 2010. Since then I bought a desk and painted the room, both in this post. It’s been very slow going and I’m still not done, and I may never be done, there is always some cute to add or change, but I’m very happy so far!

So here is my before

And after

The desk is a goodwill find, nice sturdy desk, for only $25! I sanded, primed, painted and sealed it. I thought there was too much white, so I broke it up a bit. The brown is the same color as the walls, and the pink, well the pink is the same color as the bottle sitting on my desk. The bottle was a gift from Jeremy for Christmas and the paint really closely matched the fabric I have planned for the chandelier, which you can see in the corner in the after picture, the window treatments, chairs, if it involves fabric it will be one of 6 designs I found at hobby lobby, it’s brown with pink, green, blue, and yellow, maybe some other colors, but they are all coordinating fabrics, which I love!

The Chandelier will be another post, I have all the shade frames made, I’m too cheap to buy them, I might change my mind when I try to cover them, we shall see. Chandelier shades are CRAZY expensive. So far I’ve spent $46 on this office makeover, which includes the chandelier, shades and fabrics. Not bad, huh?

The lovely art you see on the wall was a Christmas gift from Jeremy. I love barbies, you can’t see my small collection of them, so Jeremy painted me some watercolor barbies. They are all the same silhouette, different /colors/ethnicity blond, auburn, black, Hispanic, and Asian. I also have a Barbie puzzle he gave me last Christmas that I am working on putting together and then I’ll get that put up.

Oh, I almost forgot! Back to my desk….I thought to make my desk a little more personal I would monogram it, and again break up some of the white. It’s not really on there yet, just a print out stuck on there. What do you think? Too much? Tacky? Let me know!

Until tomorrow, I have several projects and recipes to share that I just haven’t as of yet! I will get better with blogging, I promise, 2 in one week, that’s pretty good! With that I’ll leave you with some cute photos of my silly animals

Guinness and Roosevelt cuddling in a box, how adorable? A box is all the toy they need

Malcolm (on the bed) and Molly napping one minute

The next they are both grooming themselves

Dogs are so weird, but cute!

Progress on my office

A few weeks ago I posted photos of my office in hopes to win a gift card to Homegood, a fantastic store if you’ve never been, but apparently it wasn’t sad enough because I didn’t win.  That did put a spring in my step to finally get started on my office.  Before it was a lovely shade of green….on the paint chip, it was horrendous when it was an entire room.  The mister and I bought some paint for the deck and didn’t use hardly any of it and it was a lovely shade of chocolate brown and it looks absolutely delicious on the walls.

It’s it pretty?  I was so excited to get it done.  It took me just about 1 entire day.  It’s still a mess, but isn’t nearly as bad as it was before or even as it looks, I believe.

The next thing on my list is fixing my awesome goodwill find

These pictures are after I’ve sanded it down, the mister somehow lost the card that I had taken several pictures on, including the freshly bought desk.  Not bad for $25, huh?  I’m in love, can’t wait to get it done!  I’ve just put the first coat of paint on, more updates to come!

I’m working on it!

Well, it’s been a buy couple of weeks.  Between work and prepping for the upcoming semester and animals and husband and our homemade Christmas I just haven’t had time.  I have been crafting, but seeing as the Mister reads my blog I can’t blog about the awesome crafts that I’ve been working on for him.  Let me explain.

We spent a lot on our wedding, way more than we should have, but it was amazing and if I had to redo it the only thing I would change would be our heifer wedding planner who was basically useless….but, that’s another post!  Last year I made an awesome advent calendar with cute chrimtmasy paper lunch bags, so it’s huge, and we decided to just do that this year.  We gave ourselves $20 each to spend on supplies and we have to make all of our gifts.  It was pretty difficult coming up with 12 different handmade gifts for the mister, but I did it, I think, I might have to rethink a few.  As the days in December click by I will be blogging about the gifts that I’ve given him, don’t want to spoil the fun, the Mister HATES spoiled surprises, he tells me I spoil something ever year, maybe I do, but not on purpose!

The other project I’m working on is my office!  I’m so excited about this, but it’s slow going.  I’ve bought a beautiful desk from the Goodwill that I just need to sand and finish, then I can really start work on my space, I’ll let you know as I get things done.  The only thing so far is I’ve painted my office, from horrible green to beautiful chocolate brown, pics to come, I’ve got to get them off the camera.

I’m off to wake up the mister and to get our first married Thanksgiving started, I’m so excited about the holiday season with husband!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
