Frequently Asked Questions

Question: Is there any genre Stellar Path will not accept?
Answer: To be honest, right now, we are accepting any genre. That doesn't mean this will always be the case. Right now, however, we are merely interested in the written word. To be accepted, a story must be well-written, interesting, new, and fresh. If our submission guidelines do change in the future, the guidelines will be immediately updated to reflect this change. For one possible exception to this, see the question that immediately follows.

Q: How about sexual content?
A: The best rule of thumb for this is as follows: if it's crucial to the story, include it. If it's just there to titillate the reader, Stellar Path probably isn't the best place to submit that particular story. We don't have a hard and fast rule for or against sexual content. Stories that are JUST sexual content (i.e. - porn) likely won't be accepted. Stories that contain graphic sexual content that move the plot, etc., will be considered just as fairly as a story with no sexual content.

Q: What does Stellar Path look like?
A: At present time, Stellar Path is a self-published magazine. In other words, don't expect glossy covers and extremely high production values. It is a 40 page magazine, stapled along the spine, measuring 5.5" by 8.5". As we grow, we may be able to contract out our printing costs. At the moment, they are done entirely in house, paid for with your subscription costs alone. Since we're still a very small magazine with a relatively small readership, we have to keep things small and affordable right now. As soon as we can afford to go bigger, we will.

Q: What is Stellar Path's circulation?
A: At the moment, Stellar Path's first issue has still not gone to press. However, based on the number of subscriptions and first issues ordered, our circulation is presently around 50. We fully expect this number to grow as word of mouth spreads, so please, tell your friends, classmates, and fellow authors!

Q: Do you offer payment for stories?
A: At the moment, Stellar Path is entirely too poor to offer payment. The only payment we can offer is a free contributor copy, and that's only with an included SASE. And of course, by having a story or poem published, you will then have a first (or additional) publishing credit to your name. What new, struggling author wouldn't like that?
